I changed the working of the system around somewhat, added the keep alive to the encoding, and tested with a more reliable stream, and that seems to do the trick. I get however some very poor encoding quality. I will work on a stable test in the next few days and will post a link (and see if I can find the related log files of that run).
I will also test the presets in the same test run as per the suggest you sent me, thanks.
(ps. I spend an afternoon struggling with a problem that the evostreamms could not deal with the audio. It appears that because of a apt-get key which expired one server was running 1.6.5 while the receiving was running 1.6.4. Just want to make you aware of a possible incompatibility between those two versions. It was a 640×480 stream, about 500 kbps with mono AAC at 65 kbps.)
