Call a PHP file like URLLoader() in flash?

Newbie first timer here. I want to be able to execute a php file when a user connects or disconnects from EMS. This will allow me to get the info to put into a database table and be able to manage that stream. Is there any way to do this. I already read the How-Tos and the API manual and I don’t see how to. Any examples? Thanks a lot.
