Installing EMS onto existing AWS instance
I already have an existing linux instance running and would like to know if I can add EMS using a permanent licence to this instance.
And if AWS needs to spool up a new instance can you tell AWS to only spool up an EMS instance and if this is possible how does the billing work for this instance?

Hi Mark,
If your current instance is from our template, you can still place an EMS tarball together with your License on it. But, you cannot use your License to replace the License in the pre-installed EMS in that instance. Note, you can only run one EMS per server so if you need to have another EMS, you need to have another instance. The pricing/billing is available in the link provided.
Note: Amazon do the charging, if you want to know more about billing please contact their support team to know more about the pricing details.
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi Erika, currently is it a linux instance without any EMS on board and is currently running so it is not one of your instances. Hence how do I add the server software to this instance?
Do I need to somehow install it locally then upload this instance to AWS then run it?
Or can I remotely install it to the running instance like I have done with other software?
Hi Mark,
I see… You can use winscp or SSH if you want to transfer files to your Amazon instance from your local PC. You can also install EMS via apt-get directly to your Linux instance and put your License. See documentation here.
So using AWS instance (OS only) is just similar in using a remote PC. 🙂
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
