listStreams API Call / bandwidth value

When looking at the returned value for bandwidth when using listStreams API, the value is always 50000. This value never seems to change. Are there preset thresholds that must be exceeded before this value is updated? I was hoping to use this value for displaying current bandwidth on pulled streams in a application.
