Middleware Development with EMS
Some of the features we wish to incorporate are listed below. It’s a brief overview of what we’re hoping to achieve. I thought it may be a better starting point rather than overwhelming you with concepts and loads of information. We obviously want to "build it up" over many stages as budgets and development times allow.
We are a FTA satellite broadcaster looking to extend our service to viewers and potential viewers outside our footprint by allowing them to watch what they want when they want with any device.
There’s potentially 2 sides to this project. One is to simply simulcast our Satellite service on-line Livestream/VOD (Similar to our parent company itbn.org) and the other is to also offer an on-line service (free & Paid) similar to U-Stream/Live Stream available for house of worship entities whom occasionally need to lifestream their service or simply cannot afford satellite broadcast rates.
This setup will include the following the following features;
• User subscription access to a collection of streaming channels (Video monetisation)
• Custom categorization and tagging of videos
• Option to show preview images to non-subscribed users
• Extensive video analytics, including per subscriber
• Access to CDN (DigitalOcean, EdgeCast etc.) for peak performance
• Create your own subscription intervals & pricing
• Listing of “similar videos” on each video page
• User Queues where users can add/remove their videos
• Users create their own events & play-lists
• High-definition, adaptive bitrate, secure video streaming (DRM)
• Listings of videos by date, popularity & category
• Option to show preview videos to non-subscribed users
• In-stream advertising and branding promotions
• User video upload and ingestion
• Video transcoding and processing
• Video management
• Video publishing
• Video player (mobile and HTML5 players)
• Social media interaction
• Viewer notifications
• Video syndication and distribution
• Live streaming with chat option
• Analytics
• iOS & Android compatible mobile streaming via wifi or 3G etc.
We’re also are looking to build a hybrid set top box (DVB-S/IPTV & OTT) to introduce at a later stage to our viewers.
I look forward to your comments
