Need Help With Creating .NET C# Middleware
Bear with me, as I am a total newbie when it comes to media stuff and also when it comes to web stuff. But, I’ve been tasked with setting up a media server, and we’ve chosen EvoStream because of all the capabilities it appears to have … if I could only figure out how to make them all work. Heck, it took me a whole day just to get PHP installed on a Windows machine running IIS 7. Finally got it though. Yay! I also got the EvoStream Web UI and the Web Services installed, but I’m stuck on what to do next.
I’m a .NET C# developer, so I tend to look at things from that perspective. I’ve used/created web services plenty of times before, but always using .NET’s WCF technology (and often using my own Proxy classes, rather than letting Visual Studio generate Web References or Service References). I’m finding it hard to figure out how to make calls to EvoStream in the .NET paradigm. I’m not even sure where to start. Ultimately, I’ll be developing a "middle-ware" piece to administer the streams and to control access to the streams. I’d like to write a class that can connect to EvoStream via WCF. Some of it seems like it’s just http requests, but I also remember reading in one of the PDF documents about the use or RESTful web services. You can see why I’m confused!
Consequently, I really need a tutorial or some sample C# code that will really make it clear to me what I need to do. I just don’t have any idea of how to start any of this.
Thanks,
~~Bonnie
