Websocket Question

1. Is there limitations on the stream video encoding with the websocket technology ? a. What are the limitations with Firefox ? We must support FireFox ESR 45 b. Does it support IE? IE11 / Edge ? I tried to test on Microsoft Edge, but it’s not working. I’ve seen here it should be supported: https://evostream.com/features/sub-second-html5/ 2. Is there isssues with FireFox when the framerate of the camera is low ? 3. I see frequently that the streams stop and restart with FireFox 45 ESR (4 FPS / H264) (seems working better at 8 FPS) a. When it restarts, it take a while to show again the video. Could we improve this ? Is it specific to the low FPS ? (4 FPS) 4. What is the format of the data sent on the web socket ? Raw data ? Are the data encapsulated ? a. Do you have any specification ?

Hi,
  1. To enable websocket playback, the browser should properly support html5 (especially the video element), as well as the media source extension (MSE). To enable playback on firefox make sure that the following fields are properly set, see http://docs.evostream.com/ems_user_guide/protocolsupport#firefox-configuration-changes. IE 11/Edge is supported on Windows 8+ and above. If it is not working, could you send the browser version/build number and OS, please.
  2. There shouldn’t be a problem especially if the framerate is low. We will definitely check this out.
  3. Data is sent using standard streaming format but encapsulated through a proprietary protocol. Could you elaborate more on what specification you need?
