Delay on HLS streams

Hey guys, I have a HLS stream created from an RTSP stream of a surveillance camera. I used createHSLStream with playlisttype=rolling.
I notice that when I connect there seems to be an accumulated bit of video that plays for a while, which causes the live stream to be delayed significantly.
Is there a better way to get more "live" performance off the HLS stream?
